Gijima Pangaloonie
Meet the Gijima Pangaloonie: a wide-brim boonie built for long days outside, named after a pangolin with a story worth telling.
The rescued Temminck's pangolin cared for by the African Pangolin Working Group was first called Gijima before his nickname "Kulu". His name meant "run" in Zulu.
This hat carries his first name, and 5% of every sale goes directly to the African Pangolin Working Group to support his care and pangolin conservation more broadly.
The details
- 100% cotton canvas
- Wide brim with snap-up sides (adjustable, metal studs)
- Claw-patterned drawstring cord with metal toggle
- Scale-print interior lining
- Embroidered "the pangolin co" wordmark
- One size, adjustable fit
- 5% of every sale donated to the African Pangolin Working Group
Care
100% cotton canvas — hand wash only. It can handle a splash, and yes, it's been swum in — but the metal toggle and side studs can be subject to rust with regular water exposure, so we wouldn't recommend making that a habit. Hand wash and air dry to keep it looking its best.
